Child marriage is a global epidemic. Worldwide, more than 60 million girls are forcibly married before the age of 18 – often at the encouragement of their parents and often to much older men. Child marriage instigates a myriad of educational, social, and health challenges for girls who are married too young, including increased risk of complications in pregnancy and childbirth, likelihood of experiencing violence, and vulnerability to sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
Please ask Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to commit to increased investments to end child marriage.
